My reading journey from bud to bloom

Looking back to my own childhood, I have a number of beautiful experiences that i clearly remember throughout my reading journey that helped me to develop as a confident reader.

Beginning reader stage

As i grew older enough to understand my mother started reading to me every night, gradually these bed time stories became a habit. Even though i couldn't read, the way she told me the story turning the pages and showing the pictures, I was able to recognize the sound and letters some extent. She oftent encourage me to read more English books as she was a English teacher and brought me interesting books whenever possible. Still i remember the scenes in "Alice in Wonderland", "Snow white and seven dwarffs".

And i practice sounding out words from the book "Radiant way" at tuition class and my favorite English teacher helped me to build confidence and vocabulary.

Transitional and fluent reading stage.

By the time i reached my upper grades, I started reading complex, longer books like, translations, novels, detectives, thrillers. In this period teachers were motivating us to read more and more to gain knowledge. With my mother’s motivation i had already become a addicted reader. There was a time when it became my only free time activity.

I also had a note book where i could keep a short note of every book i read and this gave me the ability to finish reading with understanding of some texts in a very short time.

After reading an interesting book, I still remember we shared every little thing we read with the girls. We were excited to hear all the stories, girls in "Malory Towers", Victims in "Sherlock Holmes", romance in "Twilight", Magic’s in "Percy Jackson".

Every book i read helped me to improve my vocabulary, analyzing skill and comprehension. Finally it guided me for a fluent reader.

Behind the Scenes Note

This little note is about my journey with books, starting from the time I was a child until I could immerse myself in stories with ease. While i was writing this, I couldn't help but reminisce about the wonderful people who guided me along the way—my mother, my teachers, and even my friends. They all played a part in shaping my reading habits and building my confidence in English. The memories I’ve shared are genuinely rooted in my experiences and illustrate how a gentle nudge, a few good books, and some delightful discussions turned me into a word lover. Writing this reflection helped me connect what I’ve learned in theory with what I’ve lived through, allowing me to better grasp the stages of how one becomes a reader.
